After having met Milagros’ friends, Diana decides to ask more about them. The conversation revolves around the marital status of the people she just met.

Milagros, ¡tienes muchos amigos!

Milagros, you have so many friends!
Milagros

Sí, soy amiguera.

Yes, I like having friends.
Diana

Siempre estás acompañada.

You always have company.
Milagros

Claro, estar soltera no es estar sola.

Of course, being single doesn’t mean being alone.
Diana

¿Y tus amigos son solteros o tienen pareja?

And are your friends single, or do they have partners?
Milagros

Gustavo está soltero, pero tiene novia, sí.

Gustavo is single, but he has a girlfriend.

How old is he?

He is thirty-six.

Ah, Amelia, ella tiene treinta y ocho años.

Is she married or single?

Milagros

Ella está casada y tiene un bebé.

She’s married, and she has a baby.

Milagros

Ana y Diego, ellos están casados y tienen veinte años de matrimonio.

Ana and Diego… they are married. They have twenty years of marriage.
